I'm sorry but after 4 episodes I cannot take that guy on the right anymore. It's obvious he has seen the show before, he predicts every last little thing that happens in this show. Nobody is smart enough to predict every last plot twist in this show with how unpredictable it is.

The company they work for (Pur and Kleen) is not very wealthy. So they were already on a ship that was held together by duct tape and glue, they were short on a lot of necessary supplies. A lot of the Belt is like that, being a space-born culture they've learned to cannibalize what they can when they need to do repairs. In addition: they were also on a small shuttle from the Cant rather than on a main portion of it. So the supplies of that small shuttle were likely taken first when repairs needed doing. Also the weird pouring isn't because of gravity, but rather the Coriolis effect. Ceres: the station Miller is on, is built into an actual celestial body called Ceres. To create gravity, since it's such a small body and they don't have artificial gravity in this, you can either accelerate an object at a constant rate to give the effect of gravity in the direction opposite of acceleration; or you can spin an object really fast.
